Snicker Doodle Cookies Recipe

Open Spaces Editors

Little ones find the name very funny and they love to make the dough into little balls and roll them in cinnamon and sugar!

Cinnamon Sugar Ingredients

1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
1 Tablespoon cinnamon

Cookie Dough Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or other soft shortening
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 and 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Directions

Mix cinnamon sugar ingredients together. Set aside.

Cream butter or shortening and 3/4 cup sugar together in mixing bowl. Break egg into bowl (watch out not to drop any pieces of shell in!) and mix in.

Sprinkle the flour, salt, baking soda and cream of tartar into the bowl and stir.

Cover bowl with a plate or dishtowel and put in refrigerator for an hour.

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Break off a piece of the cold dough and roll it into a ball about the size of a walnut.

Roll the dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place on a cookie sheet.

Bake for about 10 minutes. Cookies are done when flat and light brown around the edges. Lift cookies off the sheet with a spatula and place on wire racks to cool.

Eat up!
